Description

The first webinar of the "Series Resilient Architect: Law and Practice" is titled “Modern Practice: Standard of Care Considerations”. The standard of care is a legal term used to describe the duties owed by professionals, such as architects, in performance of their professional obligations. A person or company can be held responsible for damage and harm caused to others when they fail to meet the standard of care and thus could be made to compensate victims. This course will consider factors impacting the interpretation of standard of care, elevated standard of care in terms of contracts, and examples of good vs bad standards of care.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the architect’s standard of care, including what it requires.
  • Recognize what to look out for in contract clauses that deal with the architect’s standard of care.
  • Interpret the architect’s standard of care and the factors that impact the architect’s obligations in meeting it.
  • Distinguish between good and bad standards of care.
