The RAIC informed Public Works Government Services Canada of concerns with its request for qualifications for the Centre Block rehabilitation project on Parliament Hill.
Some of the concerns raised included the over-emphasis on the technical and dollar value of experience at the expense of design, adequate weight given to architectural intervention to a heritage site, and the selection of a Canadian firm versus an international firm.
PWGSC’s response noted that feedback from the RAIC has significantly informed adjustments made to the request for qualifications for the project, and that selection would be made based on vision and design.
The RAIC responded by urging PWGSC not to favor large firms in the selection process.
