It is with heavy hearts that we share that Alan Hart FRAIC, co-founder of VIA, has passed away at age 71. A distinguished Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Alan led the practice for more than 35 years and was known for his public infrastructure work that gave a heart and voice to communities across western Canada, Toronto and the Pacific Northwest. Alan’s influence, which integrated urban planning and architecture, can be experienced in the many transit projects he led in Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco.
