Sean Ruthen, FRAIC

Sean Ruthen is a senior project architect at James KM Cheng Architects in Vancouver, BC. Originally from the Maritimes, Sean received his architecture degree at the University of British Columbia in 2001 and has called Metro Vancouver home for over two decades now.

With a focus on construction administration during his internship at Hancock Bruckner Eng & Wright, now IBI Group, Sean assisted in the completion of several new multi-family residential projects along False Creek in downtown Vancouver, as well as in New Westminster, Coquitlam, Surrey, and Richmond.

Sean served as a walking tour guide for the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) while doing his thesis in 2000 and has continued to contribute to both the provincial regulator and the RAIC Metro Vancouver Network.

In addition, Sean has been an organizer and professional advisor for several architectural ideas competitions in Metro Vancouver, including 100 Mile House, re: think Housing, poto:type, FormShift, and TownShift.  He occasionally writes for Canadian Architect and Spacing.

Sean is a mentor for both the AIBC Intern Architect Program and the RAIC Syllabus.
