Canada Green Building Council Scholarship for Sustainable Design and Research - Call for Submissions

This scholarship has been established through an endowment from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). The first installment of the endowment was provided in June 2006. The main purpose of the fund is to nurture the next generation of “green” designers.

Background

The CAGBC Scholarship was established in 2006 to nurture the next generation of green designers. The CaGBC Scholarship fund is administered by the RAIC Foundation.

The Canada Green Building Council’s mission is to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live, work, learn and play. It engages a national coalition of industry leaders to accelerate the mainstream adoption of green building principles, policies, practices, standards and tools.

The CAGBC Scholarship promotes and encourages sustainable research and design in Canadian Schools of Architecture.

Eligibility

Full-time students enrolled in a Master’s degree program that leads to a professional degree in architecture at an accredited University School of Architecture in Canada or the RAIC Syllabus Program are eligible to apply. Only one submission is allowed from each school, so applicants must obtain their faculty’s approval before submitting

Amount

The CAGBC Scholarship fund will provide two annual awards of $5000 each for the best master’s thesis proposals by students attending an accredited School of Architecture in Canada or enrolled in the RAIC Syllabus Program.

Evaluation Criteria

Evaluation will focus on the quality, relevance, and potential impact of a master’s thesis proposal or research report in sustainable architecture. The jury will assess the submission based on criteria such as innovation, the methodology used, the clarity of presentation, and its potential to advance the field of sustainable design.

  2. A master’s thesis proposal, for a thesis scheduled for completion in the current or next academic year. The proposal will be a maximum of three pages.

The Trustees will also appoint a professional advisor to review and confirm the eligibility of all submissions and attend the jury meeting.
