This webinar is part of the RAIC 2025 Conference on Architecture!

The intersection of artificial intelligence and architecture is ushering in a new era of design possibilities. Historically, architects have relied on a combination of hand sketches, physical models, and computer-generated renderings to communicate their ideas. While these methods remain valuable, AI introduces a more dynamic and iterative approach to visualization. By leveraging vast datasets of architectural imagery and design principles, AI models can generate visual concepts based on text prompts with astonishing speed and accuracy. This collaboration between human creativity and machine learning has the potential to not only accelerate the design process but also expand the boundaries of what's architecturally conceivable.

The key to harnessing AI's potential in architecture lies in effective prompt engineering. Architects must learn to "speak" to AI systems with precision and clarity to generate desired imagery. The future of architecture lies in this symbiotic relationship between human creativity and machine learning.

By the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Analyze the potential of Artificial Intelligence to generate diverse architectural styles and forms, and assess its implications for design innovation.

  • Compose effective and descriptive prompts that guide AI tools in producing desired architectural outcomes.

  • Apply techniques for using AI to generate images that clearly communicate spatial qualities, materials, lighting, and atmosphere.

  • Evaluate strategies for balancing AI-generated input with human expertise to optimize design outcomes and maintain creative control.
