Montreal City Hall is an exceptional heritage building designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. A major restoration project was led by Beaupré Michaud et Associés, Architectes, in collaboration with MU Architecture, NCK Inc and Martin Roy et Associés. The restoration work is a testament to the efforts of the multidisciplinary team of contractors, craftsmen and professionals, whose close collaboration was essential to ensure the preservation of heritage elements and the complete integration of building systems. The project is aiming for LEED Gold certification for existing buildings and anticipated energy savings of 78%. The conference will present the main restoration techniques implemented during the work: woodwork, marble, stone, plaster, stained glass, metals, etc

By the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Identify stone and marble restoration methods.

  • Describe energy efficiency of restored wooden windows.

  • Discuss technological integration into heritage buildings.

  • Explain sustainable development and reuse of heritage buildings.
