Subject: Congratulations on Your Appointment and Request for a Meeting
Dear Prime Minister Carney,
On behalf of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), we extend our sincere congratulations on your appointment as the Prime Minister of Canada. This is a momentous occasion, and we wish you great success in leading our nation towards a strong and sustainable future.
As your government embarks on its mandate, we would like to formally request a meeting with you at your earliest convenience to discuss how architecture and design can contribute to your policy objectives. As the national voice for excellence in the built environment, the RAIC is eager to collaborate on policies that support sustainability, affordable housing, infrastructure renewal, and Indigenous-led design initiatives. Our members form a unified, interprovincial coalition of architects committed to strengthening Canada’s global leadership in architecture, promoting energy-efficient design, and addressing climate change through our Climate Action Plan.
The RAIC has a longstanding history of working with the federal government on nationally significant projects, including the Centre Block rehabilitation and Block 2 redevelopment. Through our expertise in sustainability, heritage conservation, and public architecture, we have helped shape spaces that reflect Canada’s values and identity. We welcome the opportunity to further integrate architectural expertise into federal initiatives that address climate action, accessibility, and community-driven urban planning. Additionally, we are keen to support efforts to enhance public architecture through national design excellence initiatives and sustainable procurement policies.
We recognize both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for Canada’s built environment and remain committed to providing our expertise and partnership to help shape policies that benefit all Canadians. Please let us know a suitable time for this discussion at your earliest convenience.
Once again, congratulations on your new role. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Government of Canada to shape a more resilient, inclusive, and inspiring built environment for all Canadians.
Sincerely,
Mike Brennan, Hon. MRAIC, Hon. RAIA | Jonathan Bisson, FIRAC, Hon. AIA, Hon. RAIA |
