Fiona Hamilton, MRAIC

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Urban Studies from the University of Calgary, as well as a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University. With a background in urban planning from her time in Alberta, she has been working as an Intern Architect in New Brunswick since 2022, where she continues to develop her multidisciplinary approach to design. Fiona’s work is driven by a deep passion for heritage conservation, with a particular focus on industrial heritage, and adaptive reuse.
 
During her academic pursuits, Fiona was involved with the Canadian Architecture Students Association (CASA) for six years, serving three years as a director. She has also represented architecture students and interns on the Canadian Architecture Certification Board (CACB), advancing the interests of emerging architects nationwide.
 
Fiona is deeply committed to addressing pressing societal challenges through architecture, including decarbonization, sustainable urban development, and the revitalization of postindustrial landscapes. She is actively involved in local initiatives as a citizen member of the Planning Advisory Committee for the City of Fredericton and as a director with the Fredericton Heritage Trust. Her work reflects her belief that architecture can be a powerful tool in fostering climate resilience and adaptive reuse, ensuring that industrial and historic sites continue to serve communities in meaningful ways.
