This comprehensive course is designed to offer architects a deep dive into essential financial management skills needed to thrive in the business side of architecture. The curriculum consists of 10 modules and covers a wide range of critical topics, including: 

  • Planning and Budgeting 
  • Revenue and Expense Management 
  • Cash Flow Management 
  • Financial Reporting 
  • Retained Earnings and Dividend Decisions 
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 

From budgeting and financial planning to understanding key financial indicators and strategies for profitability, this course provides practical knowledge and tools tailored specifically for the architectural profession. 

Speaker Basima Roshan is an established business and finance leader within the architecture and design industry. She has consulted and advised leading firms across Canada to succeed organizationally, develop strong financial systems, and overcome strategic challenges. Basima is passionate about enhancing how people and talent are recognized, structured, and empowered to excel—ranging from individualized mentoring to firm-wide culture and performance initiatives. A dedicated educator and coach, Basima thrives in opportunities to share knowledge and inspire growth. She has created and delivered learning programs for clients and professional associations such as the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, as well as contributed to the Canadian Handbook of Practice for Architects. Basima holds an MBA from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
