Job Description
• Champion the design and development of small and medium sized projects from start to finish (with minimum guidance).
• Support design concept development through strong design, graphic, and visual communication capabilities.
• Coordinate project information between different disciplines to advance the design
• Take direction, research, and apply knowledge to produce design options / strategies with minimum guidance.
• Understand and demonstrate a knowledge of proper drafting standards, techniques, and conventions.
• Ability to represent firm on site for minor projects and with assistance for major projects.
• Coordinate information from consultants, senior designers, technical staff and Project Managers
• Prepare product/material research and work with junior and senior personnel to resolve technical and design issues.
• Assist with preparations for bidding process including different types of construction contracts.
• Seek opportunities to reduce or control costs while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
• Maintain a level of quality with work that is in line with standards of the company, using an understanding of design and flagging inconsistencies.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Analyze existing conditions and develop analysis reports and documentation
• Develop design solutions for a variety of projects at all scales.
• Assemble and submit complete sets of Development Permit and Building Permit drawings packages for small to medium sized projects.
• Able to advance the development of the design, project deliverables and major milestones, including directing staff on design, bylaw, code, technical or coordination issues, with support from the Principal in Charge and senior team members.
• Communicate with Design Staff regarding transition from design to construction drawings.
• Communicate with engineering consultants and provide feedback.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and identify issues for coordination.
• Communicate and correspond with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction, clients, and consultants.
