This webinar is part of the RAIC 2025 Conference on Architecture!

School architecture seems to be stuck in its codes, archetypes and constraints, yet in recent years, many Quebec high schools have begun to reflect on their transformation with the aim of better serving their student clientele. This conference is intended for architecture professionals, urban planners, educators and anyone interested in the evolution of learning spaces. Join us for an in-depth exploration of the issues and opportunities related to the architectural transformation of Quebec's high schools, and discover how these new schools can redefine the future of education, but above all contribute to the success of young students.

By the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the mechanisms that have been put in place in the new schools.

  • Identify the appropriation factors have been developed for student customers.

  • List the equipment that can be shared with other communities.

  • Discuss biophilia and how it fits into new schools.

Subject Matter Expert:

Eric Pelletier

Principal Associate Architect, Creation, Lemay

His sensitive, holistic approach has led to the completion of many high-quality projects, many of which have won national and international awards. During his 30-year career as a senior designer and project manager, Eric Pelletier has carried out a wide variety of mandates, all of which have in common a sensitive approach focused on the experience of the user and the place. His ability to adapt to change and his renowned creativity make him an attentive, inclusive and inspired designer. A natural leader, he stands out for his ability to identify issues and effectively communicate information and objectives. Passionate about architecture, he is also involved with Laval University's School of Architecture, where he gives workshops and end-of-study coaching. Responsible for several distinctive mandates, he advocates architecture that is measured, meticulous, supportive and meaningful. The Bibliothèque du Boisé and the Grand Théâtre de Québec, winners of an OAQ Grand Prix d'excellence, as well as the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel, which sits proudly in the heart of Montreal, are excellent examples of this.
