As We Emerge from the Pandemic - What has Architecture Learned about Integrating User Needs
This webinar is now available on demand!
Topics: Design / COVID-19
Length: 1 hour | What's included: Video, Quiz, Certificate of Completion
About three years ago, Erin spoke on a RAIC Webday Wednesday about how architects are integrating user research into their design projects, and the methods and tools used to gather both qualitative and quantitative data to inform the design of buildings and cities. In the time since that talk, our practice has evolved – both in the tactical tools we utilize in a world where in-person interaction was severely limited, and in how our designs have responded to changing user expectations.
Erin looks forward to reconnecting with the RAIC community to present aspects of spatial design that are being rethought, newly emerged guiding principles, and how the demand for user research has increased – both to help our clients make informed decisions in an ever-changing world, but also for us to get a pulse of shifting needs from a variety of stakeholders across our projects.
Beyond the high-level trends, Erin will present a few case stories:
- How workplace design and return to work strategies have become entwined
- Findings from a research study looking at the impact of Large-Scale Mixed-Use Developments on cities
- How user-engagement has adapted to digital within Architectural Practice
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance of incorporating user perspectives in the design process
- Outline how workplace design has evolved throughout the pandemic
- Summarize how post-occupancy feedback from users can inform future work
- Explore how to measure project success through a variety of lenses
