Jill Stoner, MRAIC

 

Jill Stoner has been a professor of architecture for 35 years. Since July 2015, she is director of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism at Carleton University in Ottawa. Previously, she spent 28 years at the University of California, Berkeley, where she headed the Master of Architecture program from 2008 to 2012; served as chair of the Centre for Jewish Studies from 2012 to 2015; and was associate dean of the Graduate Division from 2014 to 2015. Her professional practice, between 1993 and 2007, was devoted to adaptive reuse of public buildings and visionary competitions and received national and international awards. Jill’s first book was Poems for Architects (William Stout Publishers, 2001). A recent book, Toward a Minor Architecture (MIT Press, 2012), advocates for a more political approach to the post-recession landscape.
