Adele Weder inducted as honourary RAIC member

On July 4, Jennifer Cutbill, MRAIC, Regional Director for BC/Yukon and Wayne DeAngelis, PP/FRAIC presented an Honorary Membership certificate to Adele Weder who could not be at the awards ceremony in Nanaimo in June.

Saskatchewan Fellows gather in Regina

On June 3, following the Saskatchewan Association of Architects’ Annual General Meeting in Regina, local RAIC Fellows gathered at Golf’s Steakhouse. Twenty-eight people were in attendance, including Michael Cox, FRAIC, RAIC’s second vice-president and regional director for Saskatchewan/Manitoba.

St. Patrick’s Island receives its Urban Design Award

John Brown, FRAIC, Regional Director for Alberta/Northwest Territories, presented the National Urban Design Award to CEO Michael Brown of the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) for St. Patrick's Island Park, recipient of the Sustainable Development category. CMLC was not able to attend the awards 2) ceremony in Nanaimo.

About 70 people attended the RAIC Celebration of Advocacy that took place April 19 in Ottawa. The reception celebrated the successful outcome of the advocacy campaign that saw design and heritage organizations working together in the public interest.

Allan Teramura assumes RAIC presidency

Allan Teramura, FRAIC, an Ottawa architect advocating for healthy and sustainable Aboriginal communities, is the 77th President of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada following a formal ceremony on January 15th.
