Description

This webinar will be focused on discussions on general and advancing campus planning topics of our times and will introduce changes to UVIC, both underway and planned, considering growth and up-dating aspirations for a contemporary university.

Length 1.5 hrs

 

Mike Wilson is the Director of Campus Planning and Sustainability at the University of Victoria, where his team develops campus land use plans and facilitates the advancement of climate and sustainability action in campus operations. In this role, Mike recently contributed to the planning and development of the Student Housing and Dining Project, including 783 new student beds constructed to the Passive House standard. Prior to this position, Mike spent 10 years working in policy and development planning at the City of Victoria and City of Vancouver. Mike holds a Master of Planning from Dalhousie University and is a member of the Planning Institute of British Columbia.

During this session, participants are expected to learn:

1) Current long-term objectives and policies for Campus Planning at the University of Victoria;

2) Campus management: sustainability measures at the University of Victoria;

3) Campus development: urban design criteria at the University of Victoria.
