Wanda Dalla Costa, AIA, Hon. FRAIC, LEED A.P., Tawaw Architecture Collective
Wanda Dalla Costa is a member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation. Her firm, Tawaw Architecture Collective (www.TawArc.com) has offices in both Phoenix and Calgary. At Arizona State University, she is the director and founder of the Indigenous Design Collaborative, a community-driven design and construction program, which brings together tribal community members, industry and a multidisciplinary team of ASU students and faculty to co-design and co-develop solutions for tribal communities. Her teaching and research are focused on Indigenous ways of knowing, co-design methodologies, and the resiliency of vernacular architectures. Dalla Costa received an Honorary Doctorate in 2023 from Athabasca University. In 2022, she was recognized as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada, and in 2019, she was recognized as a YBCA 100 recipient by the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, a list which celebrates people, organizations, and movements shifting culture through ideas, their art, and their activism.
Michael Green, Founder and Principal, Michael Green Architecture
Michael Green is an architect, speaker, activist, and author using design to create meaningful, more sustainable built environments that benefit both people and planet. A leader in wood and bio-based construction and innovation, he has completed some of the most significant timber buildings in the world, and has been recognized with over fifty international awards for design excellence, including the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Firm of the Year , Architizer’s Revolution in Design Award, Best in North America Firm Award in both 2021 and 2022, four Governor General’s Medals, two RAIC Innovation Awards, and the American Institute of Architects Innovation Award.
Lecturing to audiences internationally, Michael has helped to revolutionize the construction industry. He serves as a government policy advisor on mass timber design and is the co-author of the first and second editions of ‘The Case for Tall Wood Buildings’ and ‘Tall Wood Buildings: Design, Construction and Performance.’
Nadia Tromp, Founder and Principal, Ntsika Architects
Nadia Tromp heads Ntsika Architects, a practice based in South Africa, recognized for design excellence. She is an advocate for the profession and has represented South Africa both locally and internationally on numerous platforms. Her passion for human-centred design and the environment sets her apart from her peers, with her work crossing the boundaries of sector definitions. Her practice is deeply engaged in discourse surrounding issues of social and spatial justice. She has been lauded for creating equity and dignity through her public architecture, its impact on culture and the urban landscape.
Among the many prestigious awards which Nadia has received the is the Gold Medal in Architecture, the UIA Vassilis Sgoutas Prize (2021), in recognition of her lifetime achievement for her work. The jurors commended her “deep sense of social commitment, grounded in innovative design solutions which foster human dignity.” She also received the WAN Female Frontier Pioneering Award by World Architecture News.
Dr. Henry Tsang, Architect, AAA, FRAIC, RHFAC, LEED GA, WELL AP
Dr. Henry Tsang is an award-winning architect, researcher, and educator. He is currently an Associate Professor in the RAIC Centre for Architecture at Athabasca University and Principal of Henry Tsang Architect, based in Calgary, Alberta. His design, teaching and research explore the intersections between IDEA (inclusion/diversity/equity/accessibility), sustainability, health, and culture in the built environment. A global citizen, Tsang has practiced with firms in Tokyo, Shanghai, Jakarta, Montreal, and Calgary, and has also taught at universities worldwide including Keimyung University (Korea), Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China). Dr. Tsang holds a B.Sc.Arch. and M.Arch. from McGill University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo as a Monbukagakusho Scholar. His works have been recognized with many awards including the Canadian Architect Award of Excellence, Calgary's Mayor's Urban Design Award, the American Institute of Architects' Canada Design Award, the RAIC Foundation Bursary and the Robert Fung International Award of Distinction. He was also named Construction Canada’s Emerging Leader, CBC Calgary's Asian Changemaker, National Association of Career Colleges’ Educator of the Year and was inducted into the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 2023.
Anne Vallières, STGM architecture
Anne Vallières is a Québec City-based architect (Ordre des architectes du Québec, 1994). Since 2016, she has been a design practice lead at STGM architecture, where she develops institutional projects within multidisciplinary teams, in sensitive urban contexts and in relation with aspects of the built heritage. Before joining STGM, she headed her own firm for 20 years, after launching her professional practice in Turin, Italy.
Anne has sat on several architecture competition juries across Quebec, for community facilities and developments: libraries, an aquatic centre, a civic centre and a nature park. She is a lecturer at Laval University’s school of architecture, where she teaches architectural design and a course on built heritage.
She is a member of the Commission d’urbanisme et de conservation de Québec. She is also an administrator for the SODEC, where she shares her experience in architecture and her interest in culture.
