The RAIC will be developing new, architect-focused educational modules for low-carbon capacity and skill building.

We are seeking SMEs interested in contract work to support this educational content development, with expertise and knowledge in the following areas: life cycle assessment, transition planning, embodied carbon, environmental, social governance (ESG), energy modeling, integrated design and more.

This contract work involves content development and/or presentation (in person and online).

Settler domination and exploitation of the North American continent has not only had catastrophic consequences for the First Nations who had inhabited the continent for millennia but also for the natural environment.

Previous to colonization, First Nations had sought to thrive and sustain themselves and the environment by learning from and living in the natural world.

What have we as settlers ignored and what things might we yet learn from our First Nations neighbours and colleagues?

Given our continuing dialogue in reconciliation, could architects in particular start a conversation on this topic that is meaningful, provocative and powerful?

The Society of Architectural Historians will host its 76th Annual International Conference in Montréal, Québec, Canada, April 12–16, 2023. SAH members from around the world will convene at the Hôtel Bonaventure Montréal to share new research on the history of the built environment.

The conference is chaired by SAH First Vice President Carla Yanni, Rutgers University, with local co-chairs Christina Contandriopoulos, Université du Québec à Montréal, and Olivier Vallerand, Université de Montréal.

The program includes 35 paper sessions, keynote talks, social receptions, a city seminar, and architecture and landscape tours throughout Montréal. Annmarie Adams, McGill University, will deliver the Eduard F. Sekler Talk, “Shift Work: The Hospital in Histories of Architecture and Medicine” on April 14.

Tickets for the conference’s 28 tours, the Sekler Talk, and the SAH Montréal Seminar are available to the public and available through Eventbrite.

Early registration ends February 22, 2023.

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2023 Toronto Urban Design Awards.

The call for entries deadline is April 24 at 12 p.m. (noon).

The awards recognize the significant contribution that architects, landscape architects, urban designers, artists, design students and city builders make to the look and livability of our city.
