Over the last 150 years, Canada has taken a continuous and ever-changing journey towards greater inclusivity and equality. Its architecture is no different. Recent changes in municipal, provincial and federal legislation have codified greater commitment to accessibility within the built environment, while best practices go even further. Integrating accessible design is a key component for creating inclusive environments.
By elevating the human experience through built environments that embody inclusivity, resilience, and connectivity, we can improve the quality of life for all as well as the value of space for its owners and users.
Join industry experts Richard Witt of Quadrangle and Lorene Casiez of Human Space for a discussion of how architects can create better spaces by incorporating inclusive and accessible design strategies, demonstrated through case studies and examples of best practices.

Lorene coordinates and manages all aspects of Human Space, a division of Quadrangle, including team operations, project delivery and client relationships.
It is her goal to impress upon designers and builders the importance of creating environments that can be enjoyed by all and to help apply the lens of inclusion to all decisions made about a project. She has led complex building accessibility audits, consulted on large scale design projects for all building types and has created numerous accessibility-based design guidelines. Her experience includes working with interdisciplinary teams that include architecture firms, municipalities, and government bodies such as Infrastructure Ontario.

Richard is the principal in charge of Human Space, a division of Quadrangle. He believes in the iterative design strength of architecture to inspire accessible, sustainable and responsible urbanization in evolving global cities.
Richard is actively engaged in the development and design industry, currently acting as the Chair of the Canadian chapter of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and a past member of the Advisory Board of the Urban Land Institute Toronto. He is currently a member of the Markham Design Review Panel and former Vice-Chair of the City of Vaughan Design Review Panel and previously held the role of Co-Chair of the Toronto Society of Architects.
