Due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, its effect on the global economy, and the restrictions it places on international travel for site visits in the coming year, the RAIC has decided to postpone the launch of the 2021 RAIC International Prize and Scholarships to 2022.

As the future of public gatherings, international travel, and large ceremonies is still uncertain, the RAIC will provide further updates on the launch of the 2022 RAIC International Prize when more information is available.

Although this is an extraordinary situation, we are committed to keeping the spirit of the RAIC International Prize going and we thank you for your patience as the RAIC moves forward with the next steps.

All Fellows are invited to attend the RAIC’s College of Fellows 78th Annual Business Meeting (ABM) via web conferencing on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.

Fellows who would like to attend the business meeting may register no later than 3:00 p.m. ET on June 12, 2020. Once registered, you will receive an email confirmation and reminders closer to the event.

A Canada-wide challenge was launched last week to generate responsible, sustainable, and resilient design solutions that can be implemented during COVID-19 recovery, and post-pandemic, for Canada’s hard-hit main streets. 
COVID-19 is having an unprecedented impact on the people, businesses and organizations that call Canada’s main streets home. Many small businesses, for example, have already been lost, and more will continue to close permanently in the coming days, weeks, and months. 
 
The challenge will demonstrate how design will play a key role in the revitalization of main streets, including kickstarting the economy, fostering vibrant, livable, and healthy communities, increasing public safety, reducing social isolation, and restoring the public’s confidence to return to streets and public spaces. 
 
The challenge invites all Canadian residents interested in place-making and design to develop solutions that can help build the resiliency of Canada’s main streets.

The RAIC Emerging Practitioners Committee invites architectural students, interns, and recently-licensed architects to its Open Meeting.  
 
The RAIC EP Open Meeting is an opportunity for discussions and information sharing on topics related to emerging practitioners. We look forward to your participation!

A volunteer position is open on the CCDC panel for an RAIC representative from Quebec. The candidate must be conversant in construction contracts and possess ample experience in the design-construction industry to understand the nuances of client-contractor and client-architect relationships. The candidate should be familiar with the Civil Code as it applies to construction contracts, payment, lien rights, and related legislation.
