Just Five Minutes to Help Shape the Future of RAIC

The RAIC is actively seeking input from both members and non-members across the architectural, engineering, and construction sectors through its Community Survey. Results will directly inform the reinvigoration of RAIC's membership model, after thorough validation and reporting. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and will remain open until September 15.  Participants will be entered to win one of two 1-year subscriptions to the NBS Chorus construction specification platform (valued at $2000 each) sponsored by Huxebo; one of five $100 gift cards; one of five 2026 RAIC Conference day passes; or a grand prize of one All-Access conference pass.

Submit a Proposal for the RAIC 2026 Conference on Architecture

The RAIC invites proposals for continuing education sessions and architectural tours for the conference taking place in person in Vancouver, BC May 5-8, 2026 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.

The Conference program is designed to promote professional and educational success, and will feature high-quality educational sessions with interactive content, innovative ideas, and engaging discussions. The program will also feature local architecture tours that provide exclusive insight into Vancouver’s built environment.

The deadline for submissions is September 22, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Call for Volunteers – Conference Abstract Reviewers (2 Days Left – Ends Aug 22)

Are you interested in shaping the program for the RAIC 2026 Conference on Architecture? We are seeking volunteers to serve as abstract reviewers between September 23 and October 6, 2025. 

This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a national dialogue, support professional excellence, and gain insight into emerging work in the field. Reviewers will evaluate abstracts anonymously through our online platform, requiring a commitment of approximately 3–5 hours. 

To express interest, please email conference@raic.org with the subject line “2026 Abstract Reviewer” and include a brief statement of experience and interest by August 22, 2025.

Built Environment: An Alternative Guide to Japan
 
Athabasca University's RAIC Centre for Architecture is currently hosting an exhibition on Japanese architecture in collaboration with the University of Calgary and the Consulate-General of Japan in Calgary. The Japan Foundation traveling exhibition features 80 examples of buildings, civil engineering works and landscapes, etc., from all the prefectures of Japan, which are introduced through photographs, text and video images. It presents a rarely considered aspect of Japan, taking the built environment of the various regions of a country that is geographically diverse and often struck by natural disasters, with the aim of examining how Japanese people have engaged and struggled with the natural environment and how they have carried on and created locality.

UIA Daylight Award
 
The Daylight Award, the biennial prize honouring outstanding contributions to daylight research and daylight in architecture, is now open for nominations for its 2026 edition. Every second year, The Daylight Award honours both a researcher and an architect whose work advances the understanding and application of daylight. Nominations for 2026 are open from 16 May 2025, UNESCO International Day of Light, until 15 September 2025.
