The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) is seeking volunteers to assist with hosting the Conference on Architecture-to be held at the Hyatt Regency hotel from May 2 – 6, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta. 
The conference brings together practitioners from across the nation and beyond, to explore, share, learn, and grow - and this year is a great opportunity to get further involved and engaged. 
 
The deadline to apply is March 10, 2023!

In continuing to improve our understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), the architectural profession must not only examine our internal performance but also, we must turn our attention beyond the profession to the responsibilities we have to our fellow citizens.  How can the architectural profession make a difference?  In addressing that question, we need to hear from the public and from representative organizations who are working to improve DEI.

We must find more effective means by which the RAIC advocates for equity and justice in the built environment.  We can only do that in partnership with a broad range of advocates. To that end, the RAIC's Promoting Equity and Justice Committee wants to hear from advocacy groups who are trying to make a difference with DEI within the built environment. If you are interested in sharing your advocacy work with theRAIC Promoting Equity and Justice Advisory Committee, please submit an expression of interest with contact information by March 14th to pej@raic.org.

Groups do not need to be formalized or have a web presence to be included. 

Hire Ukrainian Designers is a volunteer initiative led by a team of USA and Ukraine-based architects who have created pathways to help Ukrainian design professionals - in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, interior design, furniture design and visualization - find work opportunities with firms worldwide.

Remote work opportunities provided by firms in Canada and the USA provide a critical and urgent lifeline for those whose livelihood has been jeopardized by war.

The initiative has successfully matched over 50 Ukrainian design professionals with US-based design firms since March 2022, and are now looking to find matches in Canada.

The Society of Architectural Historians will host its 76th Annual International Conference in Montréal, Québec, Canada, April 12–16, 2023. SAH members from around the world will convene at the Hôtel Bonaventure Montréal to share new research on the history of the built environment. The conference is chaired by SAH First Vice President Carla Yanni, Rutgers University, with local co-chairs Christina Contandriopoulos, Université du Québec à Montréal, and Olivier Vallerand, Université de Montréal. The program includes 35 paper sessions, keynote talks, social receptions, a city seminar, and architecture and landscape tours throughout Montréal. Annmarie Adams, McGill University, will deliver the Eduard F. Sekler Talk, “Shift Work: The Hospital in Histories of Architecture and Medicine” on April 14. Tickets for the conference’s 28 tours, the Sekler Talk, and the SAH Montréal Seminar are available to the public and available through Eventbrite. Early registration ends February 22, 2023.
