RAIC 2024 Conference On Architecture
The After/Parti – Masque: A modern Beaux Arts Ball

The After/Parti details are out!

We are excited to announce this year’s After/Parti theme, Masque: A Modern Beaux Arts Ball, where five small architectural practices have been paired with five drag artists to collaborate on a performance concept inspired by the Beaux Arts Balls of the past. The Beaux Arts Ball is a party with a long history in the design profession, beginning its life at the École des Beaux-Arts before migrating around the globe. Although not historically inclusive of the full spectrum of people who now comprise the architectural community, the modern Masque is something quite other. Between performances, attendees (who are highly motivated to come in costume) will enjoy music, dance, and beverages in an evening of high-spirited creativity. Make sure to get your tickets today and be a part of this incredible evening!

Long Project Timelines: An Obstacle To Solving The
Canadian Housing Shortage

The factors contributing to longer project timelines in the construction industry are as multifaceted as the projects themselves. From the intricacies of resource management to the unpredictability of external influences, each component can add another layer of complexity to the development process.

By understanding the causes underlying lengthy construction timelines, stakeholders can work towards creating a more streamlined, efficient process. This could involve embracing innovative management tools, improving communication channels, and actively engaging with community stakeholders from the outset. Addressing these delays is not just about
improving project efficiency; it's about making housing more accessible and affordable for all Canadians.

Architects are pivotal in bridging the gap between vision and reality within this intricate process. Their role extends far beyond the drafting table; they are the sentinels of contract administration, tasked with many responsibilities. Despite their expertise, architects often encounter challenges such as keeping up with the ceaseless flow of submittals, change
orders, and the rigorous demands of document control. These challenges can be daunting, leading to potential delays and increased costs.

Contract Administration ensures the stability of the entire project. RForm is designed to streamline and standardize contract administration, transforming it from a maze of paperwork into a seamless, automated process. It alleviates the burdens of manual tracking, allowing architects to focus on the artistry and execution of their design.
