The RAIC wishes to inform our members of an upcoming architectural design competition initiated by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

The RAIC is endorsing this procedure and providing Professional Advisors and competition management advisory services to PSPC. The RAIC will oversee the designation of a Jury, review the selection criteria and advise on the determination of honoraria and prizes.

What is the design competition?

The Block 2 project aims to redevelop the existing property and buildings that comprise the city block immediately south of Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa. Block 2 is bounded by Metcalfe, Wellington, O’Connor and Sparks streets, within Canada’s Parliamentary Precinct.

The RAIC Foundation Award has been established for a project that relates to Architecture in its broadest sense that encourages public education or makes possible significant scholarly research that results in publication, exhibitions, symposia, lectures, and/or conferences.

College of Fellows Centennial Fund for Intern/Intern Architect

– Open to any RAIC member who is registered as an intern architect or a team of RAIC members who are all interns

The College of Fellows Centennial Fund for Interns or Intern Architects was created with donations received from Members of the College of Fellows and Members of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada to support a deserving Intern or Intern Architect or group of Interns/Intern Architects wishing to promote the value and image of the profession.

Canada Green Building Council Scholarship for Sustainable Design and Research

Deadline: Monday, April 27, 2020, at 11:59 PM

– Open to full-time students registered in a Master’s degree program leading to a professional degree in architecture at an accredited University in Canada or the RAIC Syllabus program. 

This scholarship was established through an endowment from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) in June 2006. The main purpose of the fund is to nurture the next generation of “green” designers by promoting and encouraging sustainable research and design in Canadian Schools of Architecture.

The Canadian Green Building Awards recognize excellence in the design and execution of Canadian residential and non-residential buildings of all types, including new construction, existing buildings, renovations and interior design projects.

With nine submission categories, the Awards is a great opportunity to have your work recognized and published in SABMag, and on the SABMag website and newsletter.

Eligible projects must have been substantially completed between January 1, 2017, and February 29, 2020.

The Province of Nova Scotia has kicked off a design competition and is inviting architectural teams to submit their qualifications to lead the design of the new Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and public spaces on the Halifax Waterfront.

The design competition is estimated to last six months and will take place over two stages:

Stage one is a call for qualifications and interviews with the top qualified candidates.

Stage two is the formal design competition where shortlisted firms will create conceptual designs for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and surrounding public space.

The AZ Awards is AZURE's international design competition, which recognizes the world's best projects, products and ideas.

Entries are juried by a panel of internationally renowned practitioners in the areas of product design, architecture, landscape architecture and interiors.

Finalists and Winners are celebrated at the AZ Awards Gala in Toronto in June 2020 and published in the AZ Awards Annual issue of AZURE.
