On behalf of the RAIC Syllabus National Advisory Committee (SNAC), I am pleased to share an update on the significant progress achieved in the RAIC Syllabus program from March 2024 to March 2025. Several key initiatives have been completed including:
- Review and establishment of a new MOU with Athabasca University, a partner in delivery of Syllabus courses
- Review and update of the SNAC Terms of Reference
- Inclusion of two RAIC Advisors to Professional Practice in the SNAC
- Standing meetings of SNAC
- Regular updates to key stakeholders including the RAIC Board of Directors and some members of the Regulatory Organizations of Architecture in Canada
- Regular and timely Canadian Experience Record Book workflow
- Mapping of updates for Syllabus policies and procedures
- Review and development of Syllabus organizational and workflow charts (internal and external)
- New processes to improve responsiveness of the program for students, instructors, and coordinators
- A comprehensive survey with students, studio coordinators, and instructors to gather feedback about the Syllabus program
Looking ahead, the SNAC remains committed to continuous improvement and strategic planning. Furthermore, the RAIC is committed to ensuring that the program maintains rigorous academic and professional benchmarks. Upcoming initiatives include the development of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, establishing stronger links to studios, as well as ongoing improvement of student experiences.
These efforts are designed to enhance the learning experience and support the professional growth of Syllabus students as we continue to advance the Syllabus program in service of architectural education across Canada.
