Pierre Gallant graduated from Carleton University’s School of Architecture in 1978 and registered with the Ontario Association of Architects in 1982. He has worked with several architectural firms in Ottawa as a project architect. In 1993, Pierre joined the engineering firm Morrison Hershfield Ltd. in Ottawa and moved to Vancouver in 1996 to manage the firm’s Vancouver office. He holds a certificate of practice from the Architectural Institute of British Columbia for architecture within Morrison Hershfield, where he is a Vice-President and Principal. He is also registered in Alberta.
Pierre has been involved with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia since 2000, participating in and chairing numerous committees, boards, and panels. He is the current chair of the Consensual Resolution Review Panel. Pierre has also served on the Architectural Institute of British Columbia Council as Treasurer and President. In addition, he sat on the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities’ International Relations Committee for three years, helping to negotiate reciprocity agreements for architects between Canada and the United States, and between Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Pierre has served on the Canadian Construction Document Committee for the past seven years.
His current practice involves mostly building envelope expertise for rehabilitations and new projects, and acting as an expert in support of litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. Pierre has made numerous presentations at seminars and conferences.
