In 2025, the total value of the scholarships, bursaries, grants and prizes awarded by the RAIC Foundation reached $80,900, a considerable increase over the previous annual totals (ranging between $25,500 and $47,200 in the four previous years).
This results partly from the introduction of two new programs, the Bing Thom Awards and the Southwest Ontario COF bursaries, made possible respectively by an endowment from the Bing Thom Foundation and donations from the Southwest Ontario College of Fellows.
A review by the Board of Trustees of the terms of reference of the Foundation’s existing funds led to a restructuring of some of them, allowing an increase in the number or the amount of some scholarships: the CAGBC Scholarship for Sustainable Design and Research and the College of Fellows Centennial Fund are now offered to two annual recipients each, the amount of the Kiyoshi Matsuzaki RAIC Syllabus scholarship was raised to $10,000, and the RAIC Foundation Bursary’s amount was increased to $5,000.
With new awards being launched in 2026, we look forward to increasing this amount even further.
