RAIC College of Fellows Chancellor (2026-2029) Gerrie Doyle, FRAIC

March 27, 2026

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) College of Fellows is pleased to announce the re-election of Gerrie Doyle as Chancellor following a national vote of the Fellowship. A total of 198 ballots were cast out of 788 eligible voters, representing a 25.1 percent voter turnout.

Of the ballots cast, 123 votes were in favour of Gerrie Doyle, representing 62.1 percent of votes cast and 15.6 percent of the total eligible electorate.

Her continued leadership reflects the confidence and trust placed in her by participating Fellows and underscores her longstanding commitment to advancing the profession of architecture across Canada.

“I am honoured to receive the endorsement from our Fellows and to have been re-elected as the Chancellor of the College of Fellows. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. I continue to hear from members the following three main issues. Firstly, we need to foster greater engagement with our (more diverse) younger generation – including students, interns, new graduates, and emerging architects. Secondly, members would like to see greater advocacy on their behalf. I believe the RAIC currently engages in a lot of advocacy, and our members should be made more aware of these initiatives. The third issue is that we need to boost representation in the province of Quebec and across all of the provinces in Canada. I would like to increase the RAIC’s membership. I look forward to working with everyone over the next three years and helping to realize our collective goals going forward,” Gerrie Doyle said in a statement.

“The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada warmly congratulates Ms. Gerrie Doyle on her re-election as Chancellor of the College of Fellows. The renewed confidence placed in her reflects the respect she has earned across the community. Her commitment to strengthening member engagement, advancing representation, and broadening diverse voices will help shape an inclusive and dynamic future for the College. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and building the next steps of its development together,” said RAIC President Jonathan Bisson, FIRAC.

Gerrie brings over 19 years of dedicated volunteer service with both the RAIC and the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA). Throughout her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in fostering positive change within the RAIC through her contributions on numerous committees and task groups.

Prior to her election to the RAIC Board, Gerrie served as a Member at Large, contributing to several key committees. Following her appointment to the Board, she continued to play an active role across the organization, participating in the Governance Committee, Nominating Committee, College of Fellows Working Group, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Foundation. Her thoughtful and strategic approach has consistently strengthened governance practices and organizational effectiveness.

At the OAA, Gerrie served on Council in multiple leadership capacities, including Vice President, Practice; Senior Vice President/Treasurer; and President for two terms. These roles reflect both the depth of her experience and the respect she has earned within the architectural community.

As a member of the RAIC Board representing the College of Fellows, Gerrie has been instrumental in advancing the objectives of the RAIC Strategic Plan and upholding the Institute’s core values of Integrity, Climate Action, Reconciliation, Social Justice, and Innovation. Her leadership continues to complement and enhance the work of both the College and the RAIC, ensuring that the mission and vision of the Institute remain central to the profession.

Gerrie is a strong advocate for ensuring that the College of Fellows reflects the full diversity of Canada’s architectural community. She is committed to strengthening representation, advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and enhancing engagement across the Fellowship to ensure it remains vibrant, relevant, and forward-looking.

Her re-election signals continuity, experience, and a clear vision for the future of the College of Fellows.
