AECOM Canada’s Buildings + Places Business Line is seeking a National Leader for its Public Realm Market Sector. The job incumbent will be responsible for driving the strategy and growth of AECOM’s services for Public Realm clients within such areas of focus as municipal squares, plazas, streetscapes, trails, parks, open spaces, waterfronts, conservation areas, and civic buildings and institutions.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone with demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature judgment, someone capable of providing industry leadership across all Public Realm submarkets. This person will lead the growth of the sector across the country, ensuring success through strong collaboration with other market sectors and practice groups.

The primary responsibilities will be to maintain, cultivate, and grow client relationships within the Public Realm sector, overseeing and leading major pursuits, and leading multiple projects and programs through all phases of planning, design, and construction. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the development of national market growth strategies, which articulate market trends/drivers and recommended priorities to successfully invest and grow, consistent with the AECOM’s regional and overall objectives.

This position will have a dual reporting to B+P Canada’s Regional Business Line Leader, Walter Gaudet, and will be responsible for achieving annual growth goals through a keen understanding of the marketplace and ability to lead and win key pursuits. The Public Realm Market Sector Leader will also work in close coordination with Canadian client account managers, other Business Line Leaders, and Market Sector Leaders in targeted pursuits across our practices and disciplines.

Major Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Planning, organizing, and implementing all strategic business development activities for the Public Realm market sector across all disciplines.
Supervising and overseeing business development staff and managers.
Working independently to pursue development of new business prospects.
Assists in the development of proposals and gives presentations to potential clients.
Participating in the Canadian B+P Management Team, focused on optimizing the overall performance of the market sector.
Working in conjunction with the Canadian B+P Regional Business Line Leader, other Business Lines (Transportation, Water, Environment, Energy), other national Market Sector Leaders and Client Account Managers to grow profitable business and ensure financial success of the Canadian offices by developing and implementing strategic growth and business plans for design and consulting services within the Public Realm sector.
Representing the company in local, provincial, and national professional associations and conferences.
Establishing and sustaining relationships with key partners and consultants to support the Public Realm business.
Managing and preparing strategic/key proposals, contracting and teaming negotiations; and periodically acting as Project Lead on specific strategic/key projects.
May be responsible for market sector financial performance including project delivery, revenue generation, project margin achievement, invoicing and collections, client satisfaction, staff utilization, claims resolution and quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must at a minimum possess the following:

At least a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or related discipline plus ten (10)+ years of experience in buildings and places projects, with prior management experience in all phases of projects including experience in sales, business development and/or marketing or demonstrated equivalency of education/experience.
At least two (2) years of leadership experience.
Demonstrated equivalency of education/experience may be considered.

Preferred Requirements

Proven ability to successfully develop client relationships and win work.
Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope.
Proficiency in MS Office and/or other presentation software
