ROLE
Based in our Hamilton office, the Intern Architect will play an essential role in the design team, working alongside project managers and architects to provide high-quality documentation. With 3–5 years of experience, the successful candidate will focus heavily on technical detailing and BIM excellence while contributing to the firm’s passion for sustainable design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare contract drawings, schedules, and detail design from conceptual design through tender and construction.
- Ensure Revit Standards, quality assurance, and quality control procedures are followed.
- Provide a strong focus on building envelope detailing and technical design.
- Support LEED administration and integrate sustainable design principles into project documentation.
- Coordinate project information with all internal and external disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and structural.
- Support construction administration, including field reviews and responding to RFIs.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
- Quality of work meets or exceeds requirements and specifications of Principals and clients.
- Deliverables are completed on time and budget.
- Demonstrated proficiency and improvement in Revit and BIM standards.
- Ability to work effectively with various levels of people within the organization and client teams.
- Ability to be receptive to feedback and contribute positively to company culture.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
- 3–5 years of professional experience in an architectural firm with experience in complex environments (e.g., laboratories, healthcare, or institutional).
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong focus on technical detailing and a solid understanding of building science.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and BIM standards.
- Strong interest or experience in LEED and sustainable design.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Considered an asset:
- Bluebeam or Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign)
- Sketch-up & Enscape
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION/LICENSING
- Professional Degree in Architecture (M.Arch or B.Arch) from an accredited institution.
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Intern Architect with the OAA.
- Valid Driver’s License
