THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Intermediate Urban Designer will have experience working with multiple disciplines in the urban deign space with experience working on large scale projects in a variety of sectors. This individual will have experience working working within the urban design and development space and will have worked through approval/permitting processes for a number of land use projects, working through planning documents and contributing to reports as well as managing stakeholder engagement processes. There will be a need for this individual to participate in legislative framework reviews and will need to have the ability to perform site analysis and land use studies. The entire team has a strong passion for urban design and the elements that create great spaces in their communities and this Urban Planner will need to have the same creative outlook. There is a lot of room for this position to develop and grow into further senior positions and an exceptional and competitive compensation package.
This candidate will have the following aspects;
Master's in Planning, Urban Design, B. Urban Planning/Design/Geography/Architecture
RPP, MCIP Designation an asset
LEED AP and PMP are additional assets
3+ years' experience of Urban Planning/Design experience in Canada
Excellent technical knowledge and design experience within the industry with a proven knowledge base with Provincial, Regional and Municipal Policy (Growth Planning, Supportive ‘Infrastructure’ Planning (e.g. Transportation and Movement, Housing), secondary plans, framework plans, hub/ corridor studies, etc.)
Understanding of municipal approval process including understanding of design justifications, planning rationales and other elements included in that process
Detailed approach to project management and design with an entrepreneurial mindset
High energy, innovative thinking and a dynamic approach to design and planning a must
Excellent presentation and communication skills
