Facilities that require commercial door and gate operators depend on the smooth functioning of these systems for productivity, profitability, security, and safety. This course addresses the various types of commercial door and gate operators available, and operator safety is also discussed, with particular emphasis on the newly adopted ANSI/CAN/UL 325 standard, its requirements, and the devices that make these installations compliant.

At the completion of this session, the participant/learner will be able to:

  • Understand the basic ANSI/CAN/UL 325 History
  • Explain the requirements of ANSI/CAN/UL 325 and ASTM F2200 and how they contribute to the safe operation of various styles of commercial door and gate systems
  • Identify entrapment zone protection
  • Understand monitored vs. non-monitored devices and how they meet the ANSI/CAN/UL 325 requirements.
