To the membership of the RAIC, On March 18, 2020, the RAIC sent letters urging the government to include small, medium, and large businesses in the architecture sector in their funding support. Specifically, we requested that the government ensure small, medium and large businesses in the architecture profession have access to the Government of Canada’s COVID-19 Response Fund. The impact of COVID-19 puts the viability of all businesses at risk. The implications for staffing and service delivery may be severe for businesses, particularly those with limited resources. The economic impact will be widespread and significant. RAIC is committed to working through these challenging times. We encourage RAIC members and stakeholders to share this message to amplify the voice of the architectural profession—simply put, our sector is vital for the Canadian economy. We have heard from many of our members who wanted to know how to lend their voice to this initiative and amplify the message. A letter template is available on the COVID-19 Update page. When completed, please send to: Hon. Bill Morneau Minister of Finance Bill.Morneau@Canada.ca
Hon. Chrystia Freeland Deputy Prime Minister and Chair of Cabinet Committee on COVID-19 Response DPM-VPM@dpmo-cvpm.gc.ca
In addition, we encourage you to send the letter to your member of parliament (MP). Find your MP here. We would also request that you cc the RAIC—through info@raic.org—in your correspondence, so that we may assist your efforts in any way that we can. Please know that RAIC members are top of mind at this unprecedented time. We continue to monitor the quickly evolving situation and will keep you informed with regular and ongoing communications. |
