The Board of Directors of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) wishes to announce that Executive Director Jody Ciufo is leaving the RAIC, effective October 20, to pursue other opportunities. Bruce Lorimer, FRAIC, has accepted the role of Interim Executive Director. He will oversee RAIC operations for the next several months until a permanent Executive Director is in place. He can be reached at blorimer@raic.org. “The RAIC warmly thanks Jody for her contributions and wishes her well in her future endeavors,” said RAIC President Michael Cox, FRAIC. “During her brief time with us, Jody initiated a renewal of the strategic direction for the Institute, a long overdue review of our financial systems and organizational structure, and a closer examination of the value we provide to our current and prospective members. Her outstanding effort resulted in the creation of the RAIC Indigenous Task Force and the successful implementation of Canada’s first International Indigenous Architecture and Design Symposium. “The Board’s top priority is the search for the new Executive Director,” said Cox. “We are committed to finding a dynamic, effective leader to continue the stability we achieved under Jody’s leadership.” Mr. Lorimer is a former Director-General at Public Works Government Services Canada in Ottawa. He has also worked at Public Works Canada and the Canada Museums Construction Corporation. Following retirement, he spent six years as chair of the governance committee of the Canada Green Building Council and chaired the RAIC committee which revised the architectural competition guidelines. Earlier in his career, he worked in the offices of Montreal architects David Boulva/Erickson Massey and Daniel Lazosky. |
